Savannah Area’s Young Council of REALTORS® supports efforts to combat child abuse and neglect with contribution to Lifeline for Children

Members of the Savannah Area REALTORS®’ (SAR) Young Council of REALTORS® (YCR) recently presented a $2,000 donation check to Lifeline for Children, a Chatham County charity that provides resources and advocates for victims of child abuse and neglect.

“This contribution is a tremendous example of the constant efforts our REALTOR® members make to improve our community,” said SAR CEO Steve Candler. “I am proud of our young professionals’ efforts to help Chatham County’s youth.”

Bill Miltiades, Sharon Brookshire, Tommy Danos, Tina Boaen, Shanna Anderson and Melanie Edwards presented the check to Lifeline for Children.

Lifeline for Children began in 1977 as an advising council for Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services. The charity then evolved into a community-based volunteer organization in support of the prevention and care services provided by Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services. Lifeline for Children also provides services and hosts events for community agencies, counseling services and the Georgia school board. For more information call (912) 484-2418.

Savannah real estate market finishes 2020 with higher sale prices, total sales volume exceeding $2 billion

The Savannah Area real estate market finished 2020 in strong fashion, with increases in average sales price and total sales volume for the year exceeding $2 billion.

“The Savannah area real estate market demonstrated remarkable strength through the turbulence that defined 2020,” said Steve Candler, Savannah Area REALTORS® CEO. “Sale prices increased compared to 2019, sellers received a high percentage of their asking price, and total sales volume increased significantly. We are confident that the market will remain strong in 2021.”

The number of active listings fell 33% in 2020 compared to 2019, going from 2,286 to 1,531. Average sale prices increased 10%, from $250,356 to $275,422. Sellers received 98.9% of the list price in 2020 compared to 98.2% in 2019. Total sales volume jumped 24.4% from 2019, going from $2,190,114,933 to $2,724,833,209.

Savannah Area REALTORS® and Savannah Multi List Corporation welcome Cody Jones as Governmental Affairs Director

Cody Jones has joined Savannah Area REALTORS® (SAR) and the Savannah Multi List Corporation (SMLC) as Governmental Affairs Director.

“Advocating for policies that encourage home ownership and protect private property rights is a critical function of our association, and Cody Jones will play key role on our advocacy efforts,” said Steve Candler, Savannah Area REALTORS® CEO. “Cody’s experience as both a legislative strategist and association executive will make him a valuable addition to our team.”

Jones, a native of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, previously served as senior strategist to legislative leaders in the state of Alabama, as a former REALTOR® Association Executive in Alabama. He most recently finished the administration of the 2020 Census and outreach activities business as Senior Partnership Specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce in the southeast’s Atlanta Region. Jones is a graduate of the University of Alabama and spends his free time raising his Black Labrador and Walker Hound in addition to keeping honeybees.

Savannah Area REALTORS® welcomes two new staff members

Savannah Area REALTORS® (SAR) has added two new team members to its office staff. Jami Bright is SAR’s new Administrative and Office Coordinator and Stacie Poole is MLS Coordinator.

“We’re excited to welcome Jami and Stacie to our team,” said Steve Candler, Savannah Area REALTORS® CEO. “Stacie and Jami both have strong backgrounds in real estate and possess the organizational skills needed to help us better serve our members and the community.”

Bright, a U.S. Army veteran, previously worked as a REALTOR® and has been in the real estate industry for five years. She holds degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from South University and a degree in Education from Kennesaw State University. Bright is a mother of two and enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling in her spare time.

Poole previously worked as a Real Estate Assistant, a position that gave her insight into the best ways to meet the needs of SAR members. As MLS Coordinator, she will assist the MLS Director in answering listing questions, setting up new agents and helping with other aspects of MLS support. Poole also works as a photographer for families, weddings, and other events in the Savannah area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, going to the beach, eating at local Savannah restaurants and enjoying live music.

Savannah Area REALTORS® presents awards during annual banquet

On Saturday, February 29, 2020 the Savannah Area REALTORS® (SAR) honored members of the 2019 Distinguished Sales Society and 2019 annual award winners during the association’s annual banquet at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott. The Distinguished Sales Society recognizes REALTORS® who generate $1 million or more in total sales volume during any calendar year.

“Our members are the backbone of our association, and we were pleased to recognize these high-performing REALTORS® as well as affiliate members who support the real estate industry.” said SAR CEO Steve Candler.

Special Award recipients are listed below:

  • REALTOR® of the Year: Monica Cerrone of Signature Properties Savannah. The REALTOR® of the Year award recognizes achievement and contributions in REALTOR® spirit, civic activities, business accomplishments and activity on the state and national levels.
  • Philip M. Heidt Purpose Award: Matt Buck of Signature Properties Savannah. The Philip M. Heidt Award Purpose award is an annual award recognizing professional and personal achievement.
  • Konter Hall of Fame Award: James R. Presnell of Presnell Partners Real Estate Team, Coldwell Banker Intercoastal Realty. The Konter Hall of Fame Award honors members of the greater Savannah real estate community who have excelled throughout a minimum of twenty years of service to the local, state and national associations, the real estate industry, the community and the public.
  • Affiliates of the Year: Christopher Lane and Christine McDonnell of Weiner, Shearouse, Greenberg, Weitz and Shawe, LLP were recognized as co-Affiliates of the Year.
  • SAR President’s Award: Donald E. Dyches, Sr. was presented with the SAR President’s Award.
  • Savannah Multi-Listing Corporation President’s Award: Shari Broome of ERA Southeast Coastal Real Estate received the Savannah Multi-Listing Corporation President’s Award.
